My Journey: From Self-Doubt to Purpose
As a high school student, I faced anxiety and self-doubt during a challenging time in my family’s life. Both of my parents were battling depression, and the uncertainty of the future weighed heavily on me. But everything began to shift with a heartfelt gift from my teacher—a book titled
Discussions on Youth by Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, a Buddhist philosopher and peace builder.
One particular line resonated deeply with me:
"Each of you has a mission that only you can fulfill. Those who never forget that they have a unique mission are strong."
These words sparked a profound realization: my life held unique potential and purpose. Inspired by this newfound perspective, I committed to uncovering and fulfilling my purpose. Through self-reflection and grassroots efforts rooted in the principles of peace, culture, and education, I began to discover my aspirations and take purposeful steps forward. This transformative journey inspired me to pursue a Master’s in Counseling and, later, a Ph.D. in Counselor Education. My purpose became clearer: to nurture future counselors and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to achieve their most meaningful goals by fostering a deep sense of purpose, self-worth, hope, and courage.
Empowerment and Growth
Today, as the Founder of CoachInspire and a Professor of Counseling, I integrate academic research, evidence-based practices, and humanistic principles to inspire purpose-driven leadership, success, and well-being. Over the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of:
- Mentoring 100+ individuals to overcome challenges and achieve personal and professional goals.
- Publishing 30+ research articles on mental health, positive psychology, and well-being.
- Delivering 50+ conference presentations and keynote speeches at esteemed institutions like Stanford University and organizations like Google.
These experiences—and my personal journey as a mother from an underrepresented background in academia and coaching—have deepened my understanding of the barriers that hinder well-being and success.
